My Dream Quilt Studio

They say good things come to those who wait. In the case of my quilting studio that couldn’t be more true, but that doesn’t mean it was easy. The wait wasn’t by choice. It all boils down to the fact that a Gammill Statler with a 30″ throat space, a 14 foot table, and a light bar takes a lot of room. So much room that we were going to have to add on to our house or move. Then COVID happened. That changed everything.

Sometimes difficulties bring opportunities. We ended up selling our farm and moving from Washington State to Kentucky. My husband and I are vagabonds, but we gave up a lot to make this move. Family, friends, our home, careers…. So much so that I can’t talk about it without tearing up. But hardships can bring blessings. We have made so many wonderful friends in Kentucky. We are able to be more involved in our congregation and ministry. Our friends and family have come to visit, and we are closer to our parents.

Our new home had one space that would work for the longarm. The creepy basement. It took imagination, planning and a lot of hard work but we did it! Well, mostly Tom did what I imagined. My studio is just perfect for me. Lots of lighting, outlets, windows and space. I thought you might enjoy seeing a bit of the progress.
