Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do you accept Mail-In quilts?

Yes, I do! The vast majority of my clients mail their quilts to me. It is an easy process.

  1. Print a copy of the Book a Quilt confirmation and include that in the box with your quilt top.
  2. Place the quilt in a securely tied plastic bag to avoid any potential moisture issues.
  3. I live in rural Kentucky. I do not recommend paying the extra cost to overnight your project to me. It will almost always take two days anyway.
  4. PirateShip.com has commercial rates for UPS and USPS. It is a free service and can save you a lot on shipping. You just need an account and the ability to print the mailing label (or on paper that you securely tape to the box).
  5. Text or email me the tracking information so I can monitor it from my end.
  6. I’ll let you know when I receive your quilt. We’ll coordinate the design and I’ll get to work on it in the order it is received.
  7. When finished I will box up your completed quilt along with leftover fabric and batting. I’ll ship it via PirateShip.com with $300 of insurance after you approve the cost and method of shipping.

What do longarm quilters charge?

Rates range from $0.025 to $0.035 per square inch.

For Edge to Edge I charge 2.5 cents per sq inch. The price includes your choice of one pantograph from our library, as well as one thread choice.

There is a 3.5 cent per sq inch charge for semi-custom quilting where the border has a different design than the main interior of the quilt.

At this time I am not taking full custom work.

I own thousands of digital pantographs and will work with you to find the best one for your quilt. If you find a design I do not own I will split the cost to purchase 50/50.

How do you calculate quilting cost?

The base cost for finishing a quilt is found by multiplying the Width by the Length to find the total square inches. Multiply the square inches by .025 to find the cost of Edge to Edge quilting.

For example, if your quilt top is 60 x 60 the cost would be 60×60 = 3,600 sq inches x .025 = $90.00

I encourage you to use the “Book a Quilt” form. It will calculate a general price based on the measurements you enter. You have not “Booked” unless you actually submit the form.
