My daughter and I have always overdone it when it comes to gifts for special occasions, whether it is a new baby, an anniversary or a wedding shower. It is our way of sharing in the joy of our friends and family. Since I started quilting several years ago I’ve upped the ante by including a bespoke, or tailor made quilt. I put a lot of thought into the people involved and do my best to create something that can be a part of their lives.

I’m not talking about heirloom quilts that will be passed from generation to generation. I want my quilts to be a part of their families’ life. The quilt they take on picnics, make tents out of, or snuggle under when they need comfort.

Does everyone appreciate the time, thought and financial investment that went into the finished project? Probably not, but I can live with that. The time spent working on their quilt was time spent thinking of the recipient and how much they mean to me.

This quilt was made for our Grandson’s cousin, Mason. I picture all the adventures the two of them will have together over the course of their lives. If they wear out this quilt, it comes with a lifetime guarantee. I’ll replace it with a new one. No questions asked!
